French building 35,000 ton battleships according to the Dutch newspaper Het Vaderland: staat- en letterkundig nieuwsblad evening edition dated 22 February 1935

According to a tiding from Paris intended France to built 2-35.000 ton battleships. The building of the first ship still allowed according to the Washington Naval Treaty was to start immediately. The building of the second battleship was to start in 1936 while she was not covered by the treaty. Francois Cadoret president of the naval commission of the Parliament explained that France was forced to built these ships regarded the German naval rearmament.
