French steam ship of the line Napoleon according to the Nederlandsche Staatscourant dated 17 August 1852
According to the official newspaper Moniteur were the trials with the war steamship Napoleon successful. The newspaper claimed that she was the most powerful warship existing fitted out with a steamship delivering more as 1.200 hp, a speed of 11,5-12 knots and armed with 90 guns. She had on board victuals and water for 2 months for a crew of 900 men and enough coals for a distance of nearly 1.000 miles with a half day. In wartime she was able to keep the route between France and her North African colony continuous open.
