The British, Greek and Portuguese navies according to the Nederlandsche Staatscourant dated 2 May 1826

Frankfurt, 27 April. According to the newspaper of Florence dated 20 April were rumours that two vessels which arrived at Ancona 14 April coming from Corfu reported the capture by the Greek fleet commanded by Miaulis of the fortress Vassiladi and providing Missolunghi with fresh victuals.

Lisbon, 12 April. While everyone was waiting for the departure of the Dom Joao VI towards Brazil with on board the commission to congratulate the emperor, were suddenly all preparations stopped. The reason was unknown although men believed due to new tidings coming from London. From Plymouth came with the frigate Maria a large amount of sailors for the British squadron, which squadron was prepared for action.
