London, United Kingdom, 29 October. In a letter dated Deal Wednesday 27
October was the arrival of the Canadian ship Colombus at Downs described. The
ships was recently built in Canada and when sighted she resembled a floating
island with masts like church towers. Steam vessels towed her towards Deptford.
The guard ship Ramelis (1) anchored at Downs despite being a ship of the line
was compared with the Colombus which was called a leviathan nothing more like a
sloop.
