An item reported that the French cabinet decided to end the embargo for the delivery of 3 guided missile vessels ordered and paid by Iran in the past.(1) A year earlier was decided that the ships would stay at Cherbourg after Iran held the personnel of the USA embassy at Teheran hostage. Another reason to refuse the delivery was the fact that France requested a compensation from Iran after the latter country broke some milliards contracts.
Note
1. The shipyard of Constructions Mécaniques de Normandie, Cherbourg had built earlier fast attack crafts for Iran like the 12 units of the Kaman-class commissioned between 1977 and 1978.
