Dutch minelayer Hr.Ms. Hydra 1911-1940

Laid down at the navy yard at Amsterdam on 1 October 1910, launched on 7 July 1911 and commissioned on 25 January 1912. During the Second World War heavy damaged in May 1940 by German funfire and grounded. Later salavaged and broken up. With a displacement of 593 tons and as dimensions
49,7 x 9,0 x 2,8 metres. Her crew numbered 59 Men. The armament consisted of 3-7,5cm guns, 2-12,7mm machineguns and 70 seamines. In 1919 collided at Rotterdam with the American steamship Lake Ellonorah. In 1921 sunk after a collission with the Dutch torpedoboat Z3. She was salvaged and repaired at the navy yard at Hellevoetsluis. The municipalty archive at Vlissingen, Netherlands received recently a magnificent photo-album dealing with salvaging her in 1921.
