Dutch screw steam corvette Medusa docked at Vlissingen, Netherlands according to the Dutch newspaper Heldersche en Nieuwedieper Courant dated 1 December 1861

An item dated Den Helder 30th November reported that the Dutch steam corvette Zr.Ms. Medusa lying docked at Vlissingen could be intensively repaired during the winter and fitted out with new boilers. Around 1 May she had to be ready for a voyage abroad.(1)

1. Laid down at the navy yard at Amsterdam by A.E. Tromp on 25 November 1852, launched on 23 June 1854 and broken up at Surabaya, Dutch East Indies after she was decommissioned in 1868. With a displacement of 1.241 tons were her dimensions 51,50 x 11,14 x 5 metres. With a horsepower of 150 hp. Her crew numbered 240 men and her armament consisted of 19 guns. In 1863 forces she a free passage through Straits of Shimonoseki despite Japanese efforts to prevent this.
