Dutch crown rewarded Greek sailors fro rescuing Dutch navy personnel according to the Dutch newspaper Weekblad van Den Helder en het Nieuwediep dated 11 May 1857

An item dated Den Helder the 9th reported that the crown rewarded Nicolaous Espiro Theodor master of the Greek gunboat Tombasi and Demetrius Betzis of Athens with a silver medallion for rescuing 5 midshipmen and 2 boatswain trainees of he Dutch steam screw frigate De Ruyter which nearly drowned when their boat capsized in the harbour of Piraeus.
