Dutch ship Triton and Prussian bark Confidence collided according to the Dutch newspaper Weekblad van Den Helder en het Nieuwediep dated 29 September 1859
An item dated Den Helder the 28th reported the collision on the 22nd between the Dutch ship Triton captain Duinker and the Prussian bark ship Confidence captain Lammert on the Groot Noord-Hollandsche Kanaal off Westgraftdijk. The Triton was underway from Amsterdam bound for Surinam while the Confidence which was towed by a steamboat coming from Hemel. Apparently was on board of the Confidence the control over the rudder lost striking the Triton in her side causing considerable damage.
