An item dated Vlissingen, Netherlands the 11th reported the passing of the former mail boat Aurora captain B. van Sweden towed from Middelburg, Netherlands towards Newcastle, England to be there used as coal barge. Apparently something went wrong underway if we believe the edition dated 4 October. The towing service L. Smit&Co. of Alblasserdam, Netherlands claimed that in contrary to the rumours the tug Zuid-Holland still was lying with the coal barge Aurora off Spurnpoint, Humber river. The newspaper De Zeeuw dated the 9th however referred to the Scheepvaart of the 5th reporting the arrival that same day of the tug form sea with on board the crew of the Aurora which sunk on the North Sea underway from Newcastle towards Tonningen. The same newspaper availed that’s she was the former Stad Middelburg of the Stoomvaart Maatschappij Zeeland.
