French reserve squadron taken into service according to the Dutch newspaper Algemeen Handelsblad dated 10 May 1892

An item dated Toulon, France 8th reported that the vice admiral Vignes (1) that morning accepted the command over the reserve squadron of the French Mediterranean fleet recently assembled to use the unemployed reserve ships lying in the harbour. The intention was to prepare these ships in case of war for immediately service.
