An item reported that the German vice admiral O. Von Diederichs (1) and his adjutant lieutenant 1st class P.C.W. Hintze (2) and a servant were permitted for a month to travel over the island Java, Dutch East Indies.(3)

2. Paul von Hintze (13 February 1864 Schwedt/Oder, Germany-19 August 1941 Meran, Italy), naval officer and further more diplomat and politician. He was in the period July-October 1918 minister of foreign affairs. Hintze was in 1898 as a liaison officer to the German Imperial Naval High Command. He was involved in the nearly diplomatic quarrel between the American admiral Dewey and the German admiral Von Diederichs dealing with the obstruction of the German warships when Dewey wanted to extinguish the Spanish fleet in the Philippines.
