German aviso SMS Hela visited Brest, France according to the Dutch newspaper De locomotief dated 29 June 1899

An item referred to the newspaper Figaro reporting that the German cruiser Hela (1) visited Brest, France to disembark a seriously ill sailor for bringing him to the naval hospital. The Hela arrived at 14.00 oclock departing around 19.00 oclock. Her commanding officer visited the French admiral Barrera. When arriving at Brest was the flag of admiral Sallandrouze De Lamornais (2), commanding officer of the French North Sea Squadron saluted.

1. An aviso laid down at the shipyard of AG Weser, Bremen, Germany in 1903, launched on 28 march 1895, commissioned on 3 May 1896 and sunk by the British submarine HMS 9 on 13 September 1914.
2. Possible vice admiral Jean-Charles-Alexandre(16 April 1840 Paris, France-18 September 1899 Cherbourg, France). Another possibility is vice admiral Jules Sallandrouze de Lamornais. Jules succeeded Jean as chief staff of the navy.
