German torpedo vessel SMS Zieten visiting Nieuwediep, Netherlands according to the Dutch newspaper Het nieuws van den dag dated Tuesday 24 October 1899

An item reported the departure from Nieuwediep, Netherlands on the Friday before of the German warship Zieten towards Wilhelmshaven, Germany after a stay of several days.(1)

1. Laid down at the shipyard of Thames Iron Works at London, England in 1875, launched on 9 March 1876, commissioned on 1 August, used for the fishery protection since 1899, coast guard vessel since 1914, stricken on 6 December 1919 and finally sold for 655.000 German mark to be broken up at Wilhelmshaven on 18 April 1921.
