Russian warship Vitiaz visited the Dutch East Indies according to the Dutch newspaper Java-bode dated 24 May 1892

An item dated Nieuw Anjer, Dutch East Indies [nowadays Anyer] reported the passing of the Russian warship Vitiaz underway from Cape Town, South Africa towards Batavia, Dutch East Indies. An item dated Batavia 22nd ? Reported her arrival, captain Zarine.(1)

1. It was not certain which Vitiaz here was mentioned. The screw steam corvette Vitiaz laid down and launched at Berneborg in 1862, completed in 1863 still was stricken around 1893. The protected cruiser Vitiaz is more likely. She was laid down at Galernii Is in 1883, launched in 1884, completed in 1886 and in May 1893 wrecked.
