Armoured cruiser, laid down at the shipyard of Baltic Works, St. Petersburg, Russia as a low freeboard turret ship 24 November 1866, launched on 3 November 1869, building stopped when the similar in design British HMS Captain sunk, completed as an armoured cruiser in 1878, training ship since?, renamed Ladoga in October 1908, classified as a minelayer in 1909 and sunk when striking a mine laid by the German submarine UC4 on 15 August 1915.
2. Wood-built screw steam corvette Askold, laid down at Okhta in 1862. Launched in 1863, completed in 1864 and stricken around 1890.
