Swedish and Norwegian governments forbade seal hunting in first quarter of the year according to the Dutch newspaper Algemeen Handelsblad dated 13 January 1877

An item reported that the Swedish government just like earlier the Norwegian government the seal hunting forbade between 1 January and 3 April in the Arctic Ocean between 65-75 degrees North longitude and 17 degrees West latitude. The penalty was 200-10.000 crones.
