German submarine held hostages at Hierro, Canary Islands according to the Dutch newspaper Het nieuws van den dag dated voor Nederlandsch-Indië dated 15 February 1918

An item reported that crewmembers of a German submarine landed on Hierro, Canary Islands demanding that two interned Germans were released. The burgomaster however said that both men were interned at Tenerife. He and two civilians were hostage and a telegram was sent to Tenerife if the burgomaster told the truth.
