scandals still continued interrogating a large number of witnesses including
officers, non-commissioned officers and sailors. Another Dutch newspaper De
Sumatra Post dated the 17th supplied more background details while
reporting five men including a rear admiral were arrested by the department of
navy accused of corruption. They were to be heard for a court martial. The Het
nieuws van den dag voor Nederlandsch-Indië dated 5 March published an item
dated Tokyo, Japan 4th reporting that captain Suzuki chief
instructor on the Japanese navy academy was dismissed and temporarily arrested
being accused of corruption.
