French privateer captured the Swedish ship Maria Elisabet according to the Dutch newspaper Goudasche courant dated 29 December 1796

An item reported that a French privateer captured the Swedish ship Maria Elisabet captain C. Fredrik Wichman underway from Falmouth, England towards Naples, Italy. The Swedish ship was however recaptured by a Portuguese squadron.
