France trying to hire transports in England for the China-expedition according to the Dutch newspaper Algemeen Handelsblad dated 26 October 1859

An item reported that colonel Ribourt adjutant of the French minister of war a day earlier departed towards London, England to deliberate with the British cabinet about the expedition towards China. The naval captain Bourgeois already in England seemed to be ordered to buy 10 large transports for this expedition while the large in France built transports were not completed.(1)
