French emperor ordered to add more ships to the French expeditionary force towards China according to the Dutch newspaper Provinciale Overijsselsche en Zwolsche courant dated 5 December 1859

An item reported that the French emperor ordered to add two frigates and 3 large transports to the expeditionary force towards China to divide the men over more ships to prevent health problems caused by lacking enough space by the men. Further more was the opinion that it would have been better to cross the Suez Canal as a shorter and also cheaper route.(1)
