In 1960 was Burma interested in obtaining a survey
vessel and for which purpose was the Dutch firm Nederlandsche Vereenigde
Scheepsbouw Bureaux (NEVESBU) at The Hague, Netherlands together with the Dutch
firm Koopman&Co. writing a plan based of the Dutch survey vessel Hr.Ms.
Snellius.(1) The Royal Netherlands Navy was also involved in the project. Her
survey research department was assisting in making a list of questions needed
to get an good impression of the demands of the Burmese navy. Further more was
the intention to invite a Burmese officer to visit the Snellius serving in New
Guinea.(2)
The Dutch shipyard Kon. Mij. De Schelde was I begin
1961 asked by the Dutch firm N.V. F.A. Voigt&Co,, Rotterdam,
Netherlands if she was
interested in sending a tender for building 40 police vessels for Burma. The De
Schelde sent the request towards the (NEVESBU) while she was apparently not
