An item dated Paris, France 20th reported that the Amazone which served as hospital ship at Vera Cruz, Meixco returned to France. When the Tampico Vera Cruz was the temperature cooled down and there was hope that the yellow fever which had harassed more as ever on short notice would disappear. In the Bay of Campeche met she the ships of the line Impérial and Eylau and the corvette Finistére. General Forey was in the meantime on30th August with the Yonne, Turenne and Chaptal still at Martinique. General Bazaine was on 1st September still at Tenerife, Canary Islands with the Saint-Louis, Ville de Lyon, Navarin and the Tilsit. The armoured ship Normandie departed on 23rd August from Martiniqye towards Vera Cruz. The Duquesne and the Eure arrived on the 4th off Tenerife. The Wagram arrived on the 16th at Cadiz, Spain. She was ordered to pick up the survivors of the Fleurus which was wrecked off Gibraltar.(1)
