American destroyer USS Cushing (1913-1936) on 1 September 1915

Building approved in 1912. First material ordered after 0,5 month. Keel laid after 9,5 months. Delivered to the US government after 2 years and 8,5 months. Contracted building time 2 years so 8,5 months too late.

1. O’Brien-class. Ordered in March 1913. Laid down by the Fore River Shipbuilding Company, Quincy, Massachusetts, USA with yard number 215 on 23 September 1913, launched on 15 January 1915 and commissioned on 14 August 1915. Hull number DD-55.
