British dreadnought battle ship HMS Colossus 1910-1928

Of the Colossus-class. Building ordered under the 1908 Naval Estimates, laid down at Scotts, Greenock, Scotland on 8 July 1910, launched on 9 April 1910, trials between 28 February=July 1911, commissioned on 8 August 1911, decided to dispose her on 30 June 1921, used as a boy’s training ship, training hulk since 23 July 1923, sold to Charlestown Shipbreaking Industries in August 1928 an d breaking up started on 5 September 1928.

A displacement of 19.680 tons (normal)-22.700 tons (fully loaded) and as dimensions 166 x 26 x 8,0 metres or 546 x 85 x 26.3 feet. The steam turbines and 19 boilers delivered via 4 shafts 25.000 hp allowing a speed of 21 knots. Her crew numbered 755-(peace time)-800 (wartime) men. The armour consisted of a 11”/28cm thick belt at the waterline, a 3”/7,62cm thick belt while the turrets were protected by 11”2/28cm thick armour. The original armament consisted of 10-12”/30,48cm breech loading Mk XII guns, 16x1-4”/10,16cm breech loading Mk VII guns and 3-21”/53,3cm  torpedo tubes.
