British minesweeper HMS Fort York 1941-1950 and Portuguese survey vessel NRP Comandante Almeida Carvalho (A527) 1950-


Laid down at the shipyard of Dufferin Shipbuilding Company, Toronto, Canada on 26 February 1941, launched on 24 August 1941 as the HMS Mignan and completed as the HMS Fort York (J119) British Bangor-class minesweepers on 27 February 1942. On 26 September 1950 sold to Portugal and renamed Comandante Almeida Carvalho. At the Arsenal Afeite converted into a hydrographic survey vessel. Served between 1950-1964 in the Azores and Cape Verde Islands.  Displacement 672 (standard)-900 (maximum) tons and as dimensions 54,9 x 8,7 x 2,9 metres. Her crew numbered 85 men. Speed 16 knots. According to some sources was she in the ‘60 classified as a corvette and in 1964 renamed Cacheu and broken up in 1971.
