British Admiralty intended new building of 5 battleships according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1913-1914 no. 4
An item reported that of the five battleships asked for in last budget 2 were to be laid down in this year (1913) and 3 in March 1914. While the Canadian senate voted against the three battleships, were these to be laid down as soon as possible in England. For the extra ordinary costs was 500.000 pound sterling needed, in 1914 was 250.000 pound sterling needed. The admiralty raised the wages of the labourers at the navy yards, resulting in 80.000 and in 1914 100.000 pound sterling higher costs.
