Schiffbau dated 4 April 1928 which used tidings received from St. Nazaire, France reporting that the French navy ordered the building from a third submarine of a new design. The displacement was 1.560 (surfaced)-2.060 (submerged) tons, horsepower 6.000 hp, a speed of 18,7 miles, a range of more as 8.000 miles and a fuel bunker capacity for 60 days. The armament consisted of 1-14cm, 1-3,7cm gun and machineguns and 10 torpedo tubes for which 32 torpedoes were taken with.
