German navy bought fishery vessels to serve as so-called Vorpostenboote according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1937 no. 4

An item referred to the magazine Schiffbau dated 15 April 1937 reporting that the German navy bought 12 fishery vessels to create a vorpostenboote flotilla. The ships were renamed after gods and heroes of the Norse and Germanic mythology namely Beowulf, Freyr, Fritshjof, Hagen, Heimdall, Hildebrand, Hugin, Munin, Odin, Sigfrid, Volker and Wotan.
