Japanese naval shipbuilding program for the coming 4 years according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad 1917/1918 no. 4

An item reported that the Japanese cabinet seemed to ask the Parliament for a budget for a shipbuilding program for the coming 4 years. It would consist of 3 battleships, 2 battle cruisers, 6 light cruisers, 3 scout cruisers, 2 ocean going destroyers, 15 destroyers, 11 large submarines, 9 smaller submarines and 3 ships for special tasks. After completing the program was the Japanese navy to number 84 ships. Quite a lot of people demanded 6 instead of 2 battle cruisers and it was possible that they would win.
