The Normandie-class battleships

The Béarn

An item reported that the French shipbuilding program consisted of 6 light cruisers, 12 destroyers, 15 torpedo boats and 35 submarines. The uncompleted battleship Béarn was to be converted into an aircraft carrier.(1)

The Béarn was laid down at the shipyard Société Nouvelle des Forges et Chantiers de la Méditerranéee, La Seyne, France as a battleship of the Normandie-class on 10 January 1914, launched as an aircraft cattier n April 1920, commissioned in May 1927 and stricken on 21 March 1967 and finally broken up in Italy
