US Navy became responsible for mine service according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1905-1906 no. 3

An item referred to the Army and Navy Journal reporting that all stations for submerged mines until then managed by the American Department of War were now the responsibility of the Department of Navy. The mine vessels with belongings were also transferred to the navy.
