Fire control system designs of American battleship USS Pennsylvania disappeared according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1913-1914 no. 4

An item referred to the Marine Rundschau of July reporting that the designs of the fire control system of the USS Pennsylvania were missing and that its was believed that these were sold to a foreign country. The Secretary of Navy stated that it were not important military documents while all modern navies possessed such systems.(1)

1. Of the Pennsylvania-class, the BB-38, laid down by Newport News Shipbuidling and Dry Dock Company, Newport News, Virginia on 27 October 1913, launched on 16 March 1915 and commissioned on 12 June 1916.
