Spain developed ambitious naval shipbuilding program according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1906-1907 no. 9
An item reported that the Spanish naval budget of 5 million peseta’s mainly was to be used for building 3 coast defence ships and a training ship. The new building program included 8-14.000 ton battleships and 9 cruisers (included already existing cruisers).(1)
Note
1. The España-class consisting of the España, Alfonso XIII and the Jame I built between 1909 and 1921 were the only dreadnoughts ever built for the Spanish navy with a displacement of 15.700 tons and 4x2-30,5cm/12” guns as main armament.
