An item referred to the Allgemeine Mil. Zeitung reporting that the Russian Department of Navy asked for a budget for the period 1896-1902. That year was the budget 57 million, each year increased with a half million ending in 1902 with a budget of 60,5 million. Laid down were the Admiraal Apraxin and a similar ship (1), the Roszja, Rotislaw and a destroyer of the Sokol-design further more the Swjetlana, Pereswjet (2) and Osljabja. In France was an electric powered submarine built. Thirty torpedo boats were being built. The so-called Voluntary Fleet was to be increased in the coming 5 years with the Olga, Uragan, Kijew, Rhatyr and Korjec to be built in Russia (one), Sweden (two), France (one) and USA (one); correct spelling of names is doubtful.

1. The coastal defence ship General Admiral Graf Apraksin had as sister ships the Admiral Ushakov (1892) and Admiral Seniavin (1892)
2. Pre dreadnought battleship, name also spelled as Peresvet, captured by the Japanese and commissioned as the Sagami.
