Laid down as the last of her kind at Satibilimento Tecnico Triestino, Trieste, Italy on 12 November 1884, launched on 14 April 1887, completed in July 1889, decommissioned in 1905, an effort to sell her to Uruguay failed in 1908, hulked in 1910, converted into a barracks ship for the mine warfare school in 1914, ceded to Italy in 1920 and finally broken up in 1926.

Displacement 5.075 tons/4.005 long tons and as dimensions 85,36 (between perpendiculars)-87,24 (over all) x 16,07 x 6,6 metres or 280.1-286.3 x 56.0 x 21.8 feet. The 2 compound steam Maudslay, Sons and Field engines, Lambeth, London, England delivered 8.000 ihp and with the 2 screws her speed was 17 knots. Her crew numbered 430 men. Hull construction consisted of transverse and longitudinal steel frames and for safety reasons divided into watertight compartments. The Dillinger Hütte work, Germany made armour consisted of a 22,9cm/9.0 thick belt with the conning tower and barbettes protected by respectively 5cm/2.0” and 28,3cm/11.1”. The armament consisted of a Krupp made ram bow, 2x1-30,5cm/12.0” Krupp 6x15cm/5.9” Krupp guns,9x1-4,7cm/1.9” quick firing anti torpedo boat guns, 2-3,7cm/1.5” quick firing guns and 4-40cm/16” torpedo tubes (1xboq, 1xstern, and on each broadside 1). Part of the smaller guns were fitted in the fighting tops in the two pole masts.
