British Royal Navy testing aluminium made torpedo tubes according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1895-1896 no. 11

An item referred to the Mittheilungen aus dem Gebiete des Seewesens reporting that the Royal British Navy experimented with aluminium torpedo tubes on board of the destroyer HMS Boxer. It became clear that aluminium was not suitable to be used for that purpose due to corrosion by saltwater and gunpowder gasses.(1)
