British admiralty ordered anti slave trade gunboats for Lake Nyassa according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad no. 4 dated 1892-1893

An item referred to the magazine Le Yacht reported that the British Admiralty ordered the building of 2 gunboats to prevent slave trade on the Lake Nyassa. They were to be assembled at location.(1)

1. Yarrow built for instance the Illa for this purpose. Later ordered the Admiralty the Pioneer, Adventure and Dove.
