German torpedo boats being built at Schichau, Elbing, Germany according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1896-1897 no. 5

An item referred to the Mittheilungen reporting that the six ocean going German torpedo boats built at Schichau, Elbing, Germany had a length of 46,5 metres. The engines built using a new concept with simplified starting device of Joy developed 2.500 ihp. Two Thornycroft steam boilers with a total heating surface of 56 square metres delivered the necessary steam. Design continuous speed was 25 miles.
