Italian navy was to count 20 battleships in 1904 according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1899-1900 no. 10

An item referred to the magazine le Yacht reporting that the Italian naval budget was unanimous approved including 24 million for new building until 1904 and during 3 years 10 million for extra ordinary expenses. In the following 14 years were the extra ordinary expenses to be decreased to an annual budget of 3 million. As a result would the Italian fleet in 1904 consist of 20 battleships and a number of destroyers sufficient for coastal defence able to perform all tasks asked from her.
