Russian torpedo boats testing naphtha as fuel according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1899-1900 no. 10

An item referred to the magazine le Yacht reporting that the tests executed with the Russian torpedo boat No. 114 using naphtha as fuel resulted in a coal consumption of 1,04 kg/hp in a hour with a speed of 16 miles and a complete smokeless combustion. The expectations were that the tests with the torpedo boat no. 129 fitted out with water tube boilers the results would even be better.
