An item referred to the U.S.N.I.Proceedings dated August supplying a short description of the French Tourville-class battleships.(1) There were five designs available and in stead of choosing for a 8-38cm guns was a 4x4-34cm guns armament preferred just like the Normandie-class and with an arrangement like the British Queen Elizabeth-class. In this manner were for fore or afterwards firing8 guns and for broad side fire 16 guns available. The anti torpedo boat armament consisted of 24-13,8cm guns divided in triples over the ships just like the Normandie-class. He ammunition transport for the 13,8cm guns forwards was in contrary to the the Normandie-class protected. For each 34cm were 100 rounds and for the 13,8cm 275 round available.

1. The Lyon-class consisting of the Lyon, Lille, Duquesne and Tourville which was an improved Normandie-class but cancelled when the First World War broke out. The Dunkerque-class of the 1930’s were in fact the successors of the Normandie-class.
