Brazilian shipbuilding program changed according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1935 no. 3

An item referred to the magazine Marine Rundschau dated March 1935 reporting that the Brazilian shipbuilding program was changed. It consisted now of 2-8.000 tons cruisers armed with 20.3cm guns although some sources claimed 1-8.000 ton and 1-5.000 ton cruiser, 9 destroyers with a displacement of 1.550-1.600 tons, 6 submarine-minelayers with a displacement of 850-900 ton, 6-600 ton minesweepers, 2 cable layers with a displacement of 250 and 150 ton, 2 oil tankers and 2 floating docks. The British firm Thornycroft received in the meantime the order to built the destroyers. The naval station on the island Cabras was nearly completed. It was suitable for the new building of ships with a displacement of 500 ton and provided safe anchorage for 3 battleships, 3 cruisers, 15 destroyers. 15 submarines and numerous smaller ships. At Porto Alegre (Rio Grande do Sul) and at Ladario (Mato Grosso) were new naval air force bases founded
