British battleship HMS Cornwallis sunk by German submarine U-32 according to the Dutch newspaper Algemeen Handelsblad dated 12 January 1917

Duncan-class

An item dated London, England 11th reported that the 14.000 ton battleship Cornwallis (1898) was torpedoed and sunk by a submarine in the Mediterranean on the 9th. Her commanding officer and all other officers just like the rest of her crew were saved except for 13 men of which their death was feared for.(1)
