British shipyards building several Brazilian destroyers according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1908-1909 no. 9
An item referred to the magazine Army and Navy reporting that the 4th of the ten destroyers built for Brazilian account in England named Matto Grosse was launched. The third one was executing her trials, the second one named Piauhy left on 28 December Glasgow, Scotland and went via Falmouth, England and Lisbon, Portugal towards Brazil. The first one named Para left in the meantime Lisbon via Madeira towards Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. All destroyers were of the same design, dimensions 240 x 23 feet, 2-4-cylinder 4.000hp triple expansion engines and 2 double Yarrow boilers.
