British turret HMS Devastation fitted out with steam engines according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1892-1893 no. 8


An item referred to the Army and Navy Gazette reported that the British turret Devastation launched in 1871 and just like her sister ship Thunderer some time ago was fitted out with new triple expansion steam engines was now rearmed with 2x2-10” breech loading guns.(1)

1. Laid down at the Portsmouth Dockyard on 12November 1889, launched on 12 July 1871, commissioned on 19 April 1873, refitted in 1879 and between 1891-1892, stricken in 1907 and broken up in May 1908.
