Bulgarian Danube flotilla needed to be strengthened according to the magazine Mitteilungen aus dem Gebiete des Seewesens 1896 no. 5

An item reported that the Bulgarian Sobranje approved the budget of 10 million florines of which 1.200.000 florines was to be used for the Danube-flotilla which was to be strengthened and reorganized. This was especially needed regard the nearly completion of the iron locks allowing the Austrian-Hungarian monitors to enter the lower Danube.
