An item reported that the twin screw gunboat Restauracion built by Napier, Shanks&Bell, Clyde for account of Santo Domingo was launched on 15 May. With hr dimensions of 65 x 9,1 metres was she larger and stronger as the gunboat Independencia built by the same shipyard for this republic. She was armed with Hotchkiss quick firing guns and good accommodation for officers and crew and space cabins for the president and his staff.
