Lord Fisher commented British Royal Navy financial policy according to the Dutch newspaper De Maasbode dated 7 September 1919

The British Lord Fisher (1) wrote in his letter to the Times that the Admiralty tried to decrease her budget via new clothing regulations. In his opinion would the British Fleet of that moment be obsolete in a new war which he expected within some years. A better solution was to save all money for the future. Fisher referred to his predictions about the use of turbines and battle cruisers and the transfer of the fleet from the Mediterranean towards the North Sea. The high taxes in England were partly a result of the naval budgets and which was worse for the economics and welfare and were so to be ended.
